1975 - Penn State Is The NCAA XC Focus
- The NCAA Championships were held at the Blue/White Course and the Nittany Lions come through with a top-4 finish!
- Craig "Surgin" Virgin outduels Nick Rose on the 10K course laid out by Coach Groves. Friend of the Group Craig Virgin later commends Coach for his hospitality after being sent a handwritten letter and Nittany Lion statue. He still displays them with honor.
1975:
- The movie "Jaws" becomes the first ever blockbuster movie.
- Patty Hearst is kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army.
- Both Betamax and VHS are released to the wild.
- Margaret Thatcher becomes the first UK female Prime Minister.
- I started running every day in July 1975 after purchasing Nike running shoes from Greg Feredericks at the Athletic Attic on South Allen St. in State College. I had him autograph my new running log. Little did I know then, we were both nerds! And it is 75,000 miles later.
- Jimmy Hoffa disappears.
- The Captain and Tennille top the Billboard with Love Will Keep Us Together
