"Bernard Lagat, of Tucson, Ariz., won the 2007 world championship in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters. On this day he combined is love for running and golf to compete in the Speedgolf World Championship. An elite field of 55 speed golfers from six different countries compete for the 2013 title at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Sun, Oct 27, 2013, in Bandon, Oregon. The format of Speedgolf is simple: Total strokes plus the total minutes and seconds it takes the player to complete his or her round."
At one time Steve Scott was the world's best speed golfer. My combination of poor golf and slow speed bode poorly for any attempt!
ReplyDeleteYou do know that Lagat was DFL in the speed golf finals, right?

your point?
ReplyDeleteI do know that.
ReplyDeleteLagat's 118 and 110 golf scores make me want to invite him to golf with us in May. With him in my foursome I would be the "C" golfer!
ReplyDeleteNo point, other than to provide information on where Lagat finished. Probably the only time in his life he was DFL in anything.

I looked into this golf format about 6 years ago and still want to participate in this style of golf. Maybe we can do it as a Friday round on Alum weekend. But then again I toiled with the idea combining my running w/ ice skating for speed skating, but never did follow through.

Thom Hunt, former HS indoor mile record holder and multi All-America at Arizona, was a very accomplished speed golfer back in the day. I believe he played/ran with Scott on occasion
