PSU Is 800 U: USATF Youth Athlete of the Year Edition

Incoming Freshman Myles Marshall has been named the USATF Youth Athlete of the Year!  I can't wait to see him in the lead in Lane 4 of the Frankin Field track someday!

Myles Marshall | Hometown: Kingwood, Texas | High School: Kingwood
Event: 800m
Personal Best: 1:48.43 (800m)

Highlights: Two-time Texas state champion in the 800-meter run, Member of Team USA for the 2014 World Junior Championships, World Youth Olympics 800-meter run champion

Coach Gondak on Myles: “Myles is the No. 1 recruit in the country for the 800 and an outstanding student. From day one in the recruiting process I felt Myles would be a great fit at Penn State and we are thrilled he feels the same way. His speed and strength will help him contribute in the 400, 600, 800 and the 4x4 at Penn State. Myles’ mother and father were both world-class athletes and we look forward to helping Myles get to that level as well.”
And another hat-tip to our Chief Morale and Laundry Officer. (And Coach Gondak, don't forget the 4 x 800 too!)

  1. I hope he runs in lane 5 at Penn. I wouldn't want him to get DQ'd.

  2. Good to know someone pays attention. But the last time I ran on the track (1984) I'm pretty sure it was lane 4. That's what the guy said when he screamed "Stay out of lane 4 if you're not on the team!" But then 70 second "quarters" are easy in Franklin Field's lane 1!

  3. It's Laundry and Morale, in that order. Can't anyone get this Cat Herder to some level of organization?

  4. I'm pretty sure it's a hopeless task. Plus I keep doing it on purpose!
