"The Beast" is Usurped as the Official Golf Club of PSU Track Alumni Golf!

"You must do something about the cheating."
-Coach Groves,  2009 Tournament.

Paul Mundy's Beast has been the official golf club of our group for years.  I really hate to see it go, but after watching this video, I have no choice!  Maybe Paul can turn that "extra" driver he has into a workable club with beverage dispenser?  Or satellite radio?  Or Spycam?

Some Raffle Winners

And by some, I mean mostly Paul Mundy Paul not only received his Hall of Honor certificate on Friday, but also seemed to win every major raffle prize.  And I swear Clark Haley was entirely on the up and up with all the various raffles.  Paul won the Nike Sumo Driver valued at around $300, which will join The Beast and its family in his golf bag soon.  Paul plans on re-shafting it before coming back next year to try for the longest drive again.

Paul also won the Coach Groves signed and matted photo of Beaver Stadium.  (Did you know that PSU is the only college with a football stadium named after a past president of the University and a library named after the football coach!)  And when that wasn't enough, Paul then won the 50/50 raffle for another $130 or so.  Paul then became a Hall of Honor Paragon by donating back the entire loot!  Thank you, Paul.  Paul has been one of our strongest benefactors from day one, and this is one idiot officer that appreciates it immensely.

First, a photo of Paul before he even won the darn thing!

And here's a great shot of The Beast and the rest of his family.  I have not dreamed up a name for the Sumo that will soon join the clan. Maybe someone else can help.

Hips are Important in Golf!

In reviewing video of Gary golfing about 5 or 6 years ago, I noticed a startling difference. Trying out "The Hammer" (a prototype of Paul Mundy's "Beast"), Gary actually was able to follow through on his shots. Let's hope the ceramic/titanium versions will allow a return of a reasonable swing radius and an accentuated club head speed! The first of his shots was actually 353 yards, the second (5 or 6 years later) was estimated by expert Clark Haley at 150 yards. (Clark did win a distance finder at last year's event!) Lets us know the importance of hyaline cartilage! Video is only 3 minutes long, Zeb!

Added: Labels are now added to the posts. This allows you to look up names, places, and things mentioned on the site. ( A kind of table of contents. )

"The Beast" feasts on Elk:

Paul Mundy's new club, "The Beast" was unveiled at the Elks Club Course on May 31. At first look, the club appeared to be a frying pan, but further inspection revealed the graphite shaft jutting out from one corner. It could actually be heard chuckling to itself when compared to lesser normal clubs. When placed back in the bag, it must be covered or it will start to feed on wedges and putters. Par 5's actually make it giggle with anticipation. If not used on long holes, it will bite Paul when he pulls out other clubs.

Using "The Beast", Paul reached the green on two par 4's. Internal hydraulics, intricate circuitry or voodoo needles allow an 80% fairway percentage despite the extra distance. Cost of the new club was not discussed, but Paul has made up most of his outlay by selling viewings of it for $1.00 a pop.

Fixed: Nick K's 2008 Tourney Photos have been added. The problems with the web site's slide show viewer are over! He has also supplied the missing photo for the winning four(five)some so he has been awarded the large cash jackpot. Note the donate button in the upper right.
