A Crying Shame

Coach Groves was a seasoned veteran Senior on the Temple track team when a young, "wiseacre" (his word) entered as a Freshman.  Bill Cosby was on a Football Scholarship, but also was a high jumper and sprinter on the track team. Cosby's support of the Penn Relays and track and field is legendary.

So it comes as a shock to see some of the reasons why Mens Track was dropped at the school recently.  But it's more of a shock to see the depths to which a program can dip with the wrong people in charge. This is a lengthy and thoroughly depressing tale of abuse, incompetence, political correctness and criminality. The article even compares things to Penn State and the "Sandusky Affair".  (Although I challenge anyone to compare our Track teams' reputations and relationship with the Athletic Departments!  Does anyone think such transgressions involving the track team would have been covered up by higher ups?)

Please become involved with PSU Track and Field (and Cross Country!).  Your input will guard against anything similar ever happening at Dear Old State.

Every little bit we do makes a difference and can be heard at the upper levels of the athletic department.
