- Mathematics and sports can coexist! (Robby Creese and John Urschel!) And it apparently coexists with fiscal sense and responsibility too.
- Most runners today use almost 1/3 of their time running thinking about how much running sucks. I think that's because the craze finally allowed 7 and 8 hour marathoners to participate. Of course it sucks then!
- Running used to be for real weirdos anyway. We have Arthur Lydiard and New Zealand to thank for the craze in the end. I blame Vegemite. (Remember, our own Coach John Lucas started jogging in the early 50's!)

Yes, Vegemite is from Australia, but Lydiard took it to New Zealand when he became the coach there. I once got a Xmas present from New Zealander Heather Carmichael of a jar of Vegemite. I pretended to like it. She knew better.
