2. Why do I have this thing against cell phones? Having been annoyed perpetually by texters and Loud Talkers and hit from behind by two texting women makes me smile at this little article in the British Press.

I think Hersch did a reasonable job of ranking the US marathoners over time. He's a little harsh about Ryan Hall, but the rankings look pretty fair to me. Where do you think he should be - ahead of Rogers or Meb or both? LTM

Buddy did things on a grand scale way before anyone else. A true animal at a time others considered 5 miles a long run. A true Saint John the Baptist heralding in the messianic age of marathoning. Frank's tortured mentality (we learn now) allowed him to achieve more and was a nice bookend to Buddy's first opening of the envelope. I'd love to see a PBS special of the two in the style of the book "The White City". I'm all about ideas.
