Ken Cooper's report, with highlights from me:
Quote of the night? At about half-time of the
Wisconsin v. Kentucky game, Scott Munro emailed me asking if it was too
late to pay his $10.
Why?
He was the only one in the entire pool to get either of the right teams
in the championship game. He correctly picked Kentucky to not only
make it to the championship game, but to win it all. He cites whiskey
and cold beer as his influences. Congrats to Scott as he wrapped up the
title. Now it is just a matter of how many points he will win by.
The
0.01 average of picks in the semi’s sets a new record, beating the 0.08
in 2006 when no one picked the champ (Florida) that year. Florida
played UCLA in the final.
There are still a number of tiebreakers in play:
The
Mid-Distance title is between Kyle Wood and Matt Groves. Kyle has 132
points in the champ game. Groves has 150. They will need to run an
open 800 if the final score is 141 points. (I want to see that!)
For 3rd
place, there are 5 people. Darryl Jones #2 has 125 points. Kyle Wood
has 132 points. Colin Heitzmann has 135 points. Mike Golic has 139
points. And Matt Groves has 150 points.
Michelle
Lilienthal, former University of Wisconsin All-Big Ten distance ace,
wrapped up the first Winner-Take-All Pool. Michelle, let me know an
address to send the check to. Shame on all of us Nittany Lions!
Interesting dyslexia – Coach Mike Morse currently in 69th. His son, former Colgate and State College HS (2003 State AAAA Champ) guard Willie Morse, is in 96th place.
On to Championship Monday and One Shining Moment!
