A 4-Miler I Swear we ran as a "3" many times. |
3 Up
(whatever workout was scheduled)
3 Down
Of course, if you mapped out the "3" that Bruce and John took us on, you found out it was really 4 even if it went by Coach Paterno's House for a little songfest.
Here's a few new-fangled runs in State College, same as the old ones...
I miss the bypass loop...
ReplyDeleteIt was like they built that road just for us! I'll have to put together a post on the bypass-loop to inform our (dozens of) younger readers.
ReplyDeleteBest Bypass loop story I recall is the time Jim Close and Glen Chumley hitched a ride and got dropped off at the corner of 322 and Ridge Ave (just north of Park as you head south on 322). Just as they got out of the car, Harry drove by and saw them. I wasn't there to see their arrival at Rec Hall, but I understand Harry was...and some chestnuts were roasted on an open fire!! LTM
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Steve Black! Actually Coach was there timing everybody as they finished at the back of Rec Hall. In that year Coach followed us on every run. He was on the overpass at the 2 mile mark and again at the exit off the 322 Bypass as we trudged by too.
ReplyDeleteLoved the bypass. Even in the winter.
