Doing It Right

The Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon isn't messing around this year in regards to prize money. With winnings for the top seven finishers in the marathon earning $8,000, $6,000, $4,000, $2,500, $1,500, $1,000,and  $500. While the top seven in the half marathon receiving $6,500, $4,000, $3,000, $2,000, $1,000, $500, and $250.

The best part in my opinion is the bonuses that will be given out. The first five men who run under 2:25 in the full and women under 2:50 will receive the following cash money $4,500, $3,500, $2,500, $1,500, and  $1,000. The first five men in the half under 1:10, women under 1:20, get  $3,000, $2,000, $1,000, $750, and $500.

Dangling that carrot out their is exactly what the sport needs. Extra motivation for those marathoners teetering on the edge of the elite.

Speaking of going for the next level. Tyler McCandless, Kyle Dawson, and Owen Dawson get some air time in this video of the Gate River Run 15K.
